And the rest of the week gets more interesting...

WE got an automated call from the school last night...

They are closing schools today, because of the weather.

We are expected to get 4-8 inches.

Frankly this does not sound like a good reason to cancel school in a city that is able to function in the snow....

DH is placing all bets on school canceling because Monday the kids have off as well. So a 4 day weekend is ensuing.

Normally I would be OK with this, but because I was home M-W with a sick kid, that is $155.00 spent on 1 day of daycare this week. WOW. And 3 days I went without pay. Add all of the medical testing, etc I had done to PN on Tuesday, it appears I am in the red this week.

In good news DH is taking the day off to spend with the kids. Which will be fun for the 3 of them. However, he is missing a big meeting he had planned...

Those kinds of things happen in my world quite a bit too.

You'll claw your way from the red soon, I'm sure of it.

Hang in & try not to worry too much over it (as I do). :)

I never imagined a day off could backfire like this. It's great that PN is back in action, but the aftermath is so expensive.

I don't understand this snow day. I've walked a mile to work in my 'spacesuit', trudging through inches of snow in boots while kids got on a school bus that stops across from my apartment. I think your DH is right - it's for a four-day weekend.

Speaking of him, I hope his big meeting wasn't crucial. If it was, does the Collective realize what he gave up for them?

Look at this way, the school saves utility costs, subs don't get paid for covering regular teachers who would have taken friday off anyway and maybe tuesday which they can blame on the weather -tee hee!

Of course all your costs go up but that is not their concern. So, let us recap; school employes get a 4-5day holiday, parents get screwed, unions are happy, ADA gets picked up at the end of the year as parents have to set their vacations back one day to make up the required number of days of required attendance.

DH is correct!
